Meet Nicole!
Hello there! I am Nicole Hobdy, Mother of 2 daughter’s and grandmother of 3, Owner and creator of The Velvet Taste.
Food has always been the center of my family gatherings and is always connected to good memories. It would be during this time that I would feel happiest and most fulfilled. Holidays I would always be in the kitchen with my grandmother Flora Mae Hobdy learning as a child how to bake.
Grandmother passed and the family gathering continue on with one particular cake being add which was the red velvet cake, introduced to the family by Lynette Ward a cousin whose would bake this cake for me every Holiday. Until one Thanksgiving she refuses to and gave me the family recipe and at that point I started using all the baking techniques I’d learned in the kitchen with grandma. I began baking for family and friends for their special events, My inventive designs and delicious cakes began to attract a lot of attention, leading to the decision of my daughters in 2022 to gift me with.
